#PIL , #RTI through Twitter, What an Idea !!!

PIL , RTI through Twitter , possible ?

Now a days, Twitter is staging the cold war among politicians and internet activists. Some are lobbying for political parties while some are crying over current social situation. Corporate on one hand are making important business announcements on Twitter  whereas  exchange of thoughts among Twitter users is a routine practice.

Today , a Tweet is considered as a "word of mouth" & any Tweet dishonoring any individual may even subject to legal prosecution in many countries including US, UK.Some days back , a fake panic Tweet from the official account (handle) of Associate Press led to huge fall in various stock markets in US.This is the magnitude Twitter's reach & followers.

In such a scenario , accepting application for "Public Interest Litigation" & "Right to information" in India would be a much efficient way to provide required information to the people & considering issues of public interests by the legal courts. In current system , individual seeking any information under RTI need to file a written application to the concerned department but through Twitter same procedure could be speed up to a very high level, ensuring guaranteed response by the concerned department.Hence, more transparency & accountability among public servants.Similarly, for the PILs, common people can directly file PILs in the concerned courts.

But, when we look into the condition of IT implementation & its usage in Government departments in India , IT skills among Government officials then use of Twitter for such tasks seems impossible.....Still we hope that some day, our country will adopt a Twitter like public grievance handling system.
